Delhi News: In view of the reduction in corona cases in the capital Delhi, now the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) can abolish the fine of Rs 500 for not applying masks in public places from October 1. In fact, not wearing a face mask in the capital attracts a fine of Rs 500, which can now be relaxed.

Mask fine may be removed
Although the Delhi government is yet to issue a notification, a senior official who attended Thursday’s meeting confirmed that the DDMA members were in favor of relaxing the fine for not wearing face masks. Although the infection rate is low, the risk of Kovid-19 still remains. In such a situation, we will create awareness among the public to keep safe during the upcoming festive season.

At the same time, the health bulletin released by the Delhi government on Thursday showed 77 new cases of Kovid-19 with a positivity rate of 0.74%. The DDMA held a meeting on Thursday after a gap of five months, ahead of the festive season, to review the COVID situation and assess the dedicated resources deployed in hospitals to deal with the disease. The meeting was presided over by LG VK Saxena and was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, senior officials and experts from various agencies.

CM Kejriwal appealed for booster dose
Earlier on March 31, the DDMA had decided not to impose a fine for not wearing a face mask in public places. But after the increase in the test positivity rate and the increase in the cases of Kovid-19, the fines started being imposed within three weeks. In the meeting held on Thursday, CM Kejriwal appealed to the people to take a booster dose. He said that, I appeal to all Delhiites to take a booster dose of the vaccine and keep their families safe from coronavirus during the festive season. Follow all protocols for your own safety.
